J Reginald Corah Foundation Fund

The Fund supports a wide range of initiatives including education and training programmes for children and young people at risk of exclusion; disability and special needs services such as respite care, inclusive activities, and day services for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and complex health needs; health advancement via immediate care schemes, therapeutic transport, and mental health outreach; poverty relief through community welfare hubs tackling food insecurity and homelessness prevention; elderly care addressing isolation via befriending and day centres; arts and culture projects for youth emotional wellbeing; amateur sports; economic development training for young people aged 16-25; and peer support groups for families, refugees, ethnic minorities, and rural communities. All funded work must benefit the city and county of Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, with a particular emphasis on grassroots organisations rooted in these communities.

Registered charities and community groups based in Leicester, Leicestershire, or Rutland are eligible to apply. The Fund prioritises small to mid-sized grassroots organisations that demonstrate urgent local needs and evidence-based interventions. Beneficiaries include disadvantaged communities, with a continuing focus on employees and ex-employees of hosiery firms, as well as children and young people, disabled people, older adults, and those experiencing poverty or social isolation. There is no religious restriction. The Fund seeks organisations that work in partnership and deliver practical, person-centred support.

The Fund does not support direct grants to individuals, general operating costs, or unrestricted funding. Projects must be based within Leicester, Leicestershire, or Rutland; work beyond this area is not considered.

The Fund provides project-based grants for specific initiatives, such as equipment, therapeutic activities, and collaborative programmes. It welcomes unsolicited applications from eligible organisations. Funding decisions are trustee-led, with an emphasis on practical, needs-driven interventions that build community resilience and address local challenges.
