James Marshall Foundation CIO

The Foundation supports children and young people aged 4 to 24 who live in Harpenden, Wheathampstead, Kimpton, Redbourn, Flamstead or Markyate. Grants cover vocational training, careers advice, apprenticeship entry costs such as tools, specialist clothing and equipment, college and university expenses, laptops and IT essentials for study, school uniforms, curriculum-related trips and extra-curricular enrichment. Enrichment includes sports clubs, music lessons, creative arts programmes and youth leadership initiatives such as Scouts, Guides and Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Applications are accepted from parents, guardians, schools or support workers acting on behalf of a young person. The Foundation prioritises financially disadvantaged young people whose gross household income is less than a threshold set by a full financial assessment. Applicants must live in Harpenden, Wheathampstead, Kimpton, Redbourn, Flamstead or Markyate. There is no religious restriction.

The Foundation does not fund core organisational costs, unrestricted grants, capital projects or emergency relief. Support is focused on individual needs rather than group or institutional costs.

Grants are provided as a significant contribution toward the total cost of an item or activity, with applicants expected to cover a proportion themselves. The Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications and processes them on a rolling basis.
