The trust funds work across a wide range of community needs, including physical and mental health, disability, education and skills, community development, poverty and hardship, homelessness, criminal justice, and support for older people. Priority is given to community healthcare, health education, lifelong learning, community development, personal social services, social preventive schemes, and community social activities. All funded projects must benefit communities in Nottinghamshire or Norfolk.

The trust makes grants to registered charities and community groups that are working in Nottinghamshire or Norfolk. The trustees prioritise projects that support disabled people, carers, children and young people, older people, homeless people, and those who are unemployed. Organisations should be rooted in the local area and able to demonstrate how their work responds to local needs. The trust does not make grants to individuals.

The trust does not fund activities that are the statutory responsibility of local health authorities, education authorities, or similar public bodies. It also does not make grants to individuals.

The trust favours a flexible, discretionary approach to grant-making. It aims to complement rather than replace public services. The trustees welcome unsolicited applications and consider each proposal on its merits, with a focus on local impact.
