Mary Homfray Charitable Trust

The Trust supports direct services to vulnerable people, communities, and animals across a range of causes. Priority areas include Alzheimer's and dementia care, homelessness, wildlife conservation, animal welfare, health causes, and social inclusion, as well as student hardship through the Homfray Awards for veterinary students. Grants can fund projects, core costs, or one-off needs. While the Trust has a strong connection to Wales, it also considers charities operating elsewhere in the UK or globally if the work is relevant to its themes. The Trust favours smaller organisations where grants can make a significant difference.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities. The Trust particularly welcomes applications from small and medium-sized charities with a strong Welsh connection, though it does consider wider UK or global operations if relevant. The Trust favours organisations that address pressing community needs in the areas of dementia, homelessness, wildlife, animal welfare, health, and social inclusion. Large medical research charities are generally excluded except for those working on dementia-related causes.

The Trust does not fund large medical research charities, with the exception of dementia-related work. It also does not support organisations that are not UK-registered charities. The Trust's focus is on small and medium-sized charities, so very large organisations are unlikely to be prioritised.

The Trust offers flexible funding, supporting projects, core costs, and one-off needs. It often builds ongoing relationships with trusted partners, making recurring grants to those organisations. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and makes decisions based on trustee-led discussions, blending personal knowledge of the charity with the Trust's values.
