The Foundation runs several themed programmes such as Community Transport, Wheelchair Sector, Research, Active Travel, Travelling with Confidence, and Reducing Barriers to Driving. All funded work must take place in the UK and directly benefit disabled people.
Who can apply
Registered charities and incorporated not-for-profit organisations that can deliver impact for disabled people and their transportation needs are eligible. This includes incorporated charities, community interest companies, community benefit societies, and charitable incorporated organisations. The Foundation prioritises disabled people of all ages, especially those facing the greatest mobility challenges. Organisations must be based in the UK and carry out their work in the UK.
What Motability doesn't fund
The Foundation does not fund capital works, research (except through its dedicated research programme), events, or emergency relief. It excludes for-profit organisations, statutory bodies, hospitals, health authorities, and political pressure groups. Grants cannot duplicate the Motability Scheme, proselytise a specific belief, or be used for overseas travel, sponsorship, or social investment. Any activity unrelated to transport for disabled people is not supported.
