Neighbourly Foundation

The Foundation funds projects addressing poverty, children and youth, mental health, older people, environment, and community development. Specific themes include food banks, youth and mental health programmes, elderly care, community green spaces, housing support, and crisis responses. It prioritises emergency and essential services, local community connections, and resource efficiency. Work can take place across the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey, with a strong emphasis on small, local grassroots organisations.

Eligible applicants include registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, companies limited by guarantee, community groups, and schools. The Foundation has a strong preference for small, grassroots organisations serving local communities. There are no religious restrictions. Private limited companies, for-profit entities, local authorities, councils, parish councils, and fee-paying schools are not eligible. The Foundation prioritises direct service providers and volunteer-led groups that deliver tangible local impact.

The Foundation does not fund private limited companies, for-profit organisations, local authorities, councils, parish councils, or fee-paying schools. National-scale charities and large entities are deprioritised in favour of smaller, community-led organisations.

The Foundation offers project-based grants, core costs, capacity building, emergency relief, and occasionally unrestricted or capital funding. It is known for rapid-response grantmaking and flexible support, often in partnership with corporate funders. The Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications and focuses on building local resilience through collective action.
