Neighbourly Foundation

Neighbourly Foundation, a UK-registered charity (1189514) established in March 2020 as the charitable arm of Neighbourly Limited, emerged in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to channel funds and support to local charities and community groups across the UK and Ireland. Its mission is to make neighbourhoods happier and healthier by empowering grassroots initiatives through collective local action, rooted in values of empowerment, efficiency, flexibility, and the belief that small actions drive big community resilience. Distinctively tech-enabled and independent yet partnered with Neighbourly Ltd, it bridges corporate funders with hyperlocal needs, having distributed over £33 million to more than 11,000 causes via rapid-response grantmaking and rigorous vetting.

It funds a broad range of social and environmental projects addressing poverty alleviation, social exclusion, health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and community strengthening—such as food banks, youth and mental health programmes, elderly care, community green spaces, housing support, and crisis responses—prioritising vulnerable populations through project-based grants, core costs, capacity building, emergency relief, and occasionally unrestricted or capital funding. Beneficiaries are direct service providers and volunteer-led groups delivering tangible local impact.

Eligible applicants include UK-registered charities and community groups (no religious restrictions), with a strong preference for small, grassroots organisations operating at the local level across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Ireland—though some programmes have regional focuses. No strict income thresholds apply, but national-scale entities are deprioritised. Applications require portal registration and verification on the Neighbourly platform, with rolling or short-notice rounds (e.g., two-week windows) notified by email; typical grants range £400–£1,500 (up to £5,000+), paid within 2–4 weeks. It avoids large national charities, favouring agile, community-led solutions unmatched by its scale, speed, and cross-sector collaborations.
