Norwich Consolidated Charities

The charity funds activities that prevent and relieve poverty and financial hardship across Norwich and the surrounding parishes of Costessey, Hellesdon, Catton, Sprowston, Thorpe St. Andrew, and Corpusty, as well as a 20-mile radius from Norwich Guildhall. It supports project delivery and core costs for small charities and community groups, and offers grants to individuals for essential equipment and training. A distinctive programme covers Living Wage accreditation fees for the first three years for micro and small businesses and charities based within Norwich City Council boundaries. The focus is on practical, immediate relief and long-term stability, including support for low-income households, families with dependent children, and disabled people experiencing financial crisis.

Registered charities and community groups based in the eligible geographic areas can apply for organisational grants. Individuals must be residents of Norwich or the surrounding parishes and be referred by a supporting agency; priority is given to low-income households, families with dependent children, and disabled people. For the Living Wage accreditation programme, micro and small businesses and charities with fewer than 50 employees and based within Norwich City Council boundaries are eligible. There is no religious restriction. The funder welcomes unsolicited applications and values equitable access for those in greatest need.

The charity does not fund general household expenses, bills, debt repayment, food, clothing, medication, dentistry, eye care, private medical treatment, or psychological therapies. It also excludes specific disability equipment like wheelchairs, holidays, toys, property repairs that are the landlord's responsibility, items that can reasonably be obtained second-hand, and funeral expenses. These exclusions apply to grants for individuals; organisational grants are similarly focused on poverty relief and do not cover unrelated areas.

Grants are offered as one-off awards for both individuals and organisations, with multi-year support available for Living Wage accreditation fees covering the first three years. The funder does not require match funding and welcomes unsolicited applications. Its approach is based on simple, transparent processes that minimise barriers, prioritising direct, practical relief and core costs for small local charities and community groups.
