Postcode Society Trust

The Trust funds a broad range of causes across southern England. This includes poverty prevention and relief, such as initiatives tackling food insecurity and financial hardship for families in crisis. Health and wellbeing projects are supported, particularly mental health peer support groups, counselling, and therapeutic activities for vulnerable individuals. Citizenship and community development work includes befriending schemes, inclusion projects, and support for isolated people and minority communities. Arts, heritage, culture, and inclusive sports programmes are also funded, such as community arts choirs, intergenerational heritage activities, and sports clubs for children, young people, families, and older residents. Environmental improvements through community gardening and outdoor recreation are supported as well. The Trust favours preventative early action, person-centred outreach, and holistic community-led solutions that address social isolation, socioeconomic disadvantage, and barriers to participation.

The Trust only funds organisations, not individuals. Eligible entities include registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, social enterprises, community groups, and sports clubs. They prioritise small-to-mid-sized grassroots charities with deep local roots in southern England. Beneficiary groups they focus on include children and families, elderly residents, ethnic minorities, disadvantaged groups, and other underrepresented communities. The Trust values organisations that create tangible local benefits and avoid duplicating services. They are particularly interested in supporting groups that empower local people and address local needs.

The Trust does not fund political groups, statutory agencies, individuals, or national organisations. Activities taking place outside Great Britain are also excluded. They avoid funding projects that duplicate existing services, though this is a preference rather than a strict exclusion.

The Trust funds time-limited projects rather than ongoing core costs. They welcome unsolicited applications and do not require an invitation. Their funding decisions are guided by their values of fairness, transparency, and social responsibility, and they prioritise collaboration and community-led innovation. They support small local organisations and aim for measurable direct impact.
