Racing Foundation

The Foundation supports projects that address industry challenges across British horseracing and Thoroughbred breeding. It funds work in people welfare, including workforce development, diversity and inclusion, training, and leadership. Equine welfare projects cover research, aftercare, and care standards. ESG initiatives include environmental sustainability, community engagement, and governance. Specific beneficiaries include racing staff, jockeys, trainers, breeders, and communities, as well as Thoroughbred horses. Grants can support project costs, core costs, multi-year programmes, and occasional capital needs. The Foundation’s funding is UK-wide, with no geographic base restriction as long as the work delivers national impact for the racing sector.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities that deliver public benefit to the British horseracing and Thoroughbred breeding sector. The Foundation welcomes charities of all sizes, with no geographic base restriction as long as the work has national impact. It prioritises projects that benefit racing staff, jockeys, trainers, breeders, and communities, with a focus on women, youth, underrepresented groups, and parents or carers. Thoroughbred horses are also a key beneficiary group. The Foundation's funding is industry-focused, so proposals must clearly support the racing sector.

The Foundation does not fund projects that are not directly related to British horseracing or Thoroughbred breeding, or that lack a clear charitable benefit. It also avoids emergency relief funding. Generalist proposals that do not address specific industry challenges are unlikely to be supported.
