Rosa Fund

Rosa Fund, established in 2008 as the UK's first specialist funder for women and girls, drives equality and justice by resourcing underfunded organisations tackling gender inequality. Its mission pairs grant-making with advocacy for systemic change, guided by core values of boldness, collaboration, inclusivity, agility, and transparency. Distinctively, it centres participatory decision-making, with advisory panels of people with lived experience of racial or gender injustice shaping funds and selecting grantees, while prioritising intersectionality, long-term multi-year support, and sector infrastructure for resilience.

It funds four thematic areas—economic justice, equal representation, health and wellbeing, and safety—through programmes like the Rise Fund for Black and racially minoritised-led groups (strengthening strategy, governance, leadership), Voices from the Frontline for campaigning, and Stand With Us for core costs. Support targets frontline services for violence survivors, mental health, economic marginalisation, and under-represented women/girls, funding core infrastructure, capacity-building, leadership development, alliances, and policy influence in women-led organisations serving women and girls facing intersecting disadvantages.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities based in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), women-led and run by/for women/girls, with programme-specific income thresholds (e.g., Rise Fund: £30,000–£300,000). Typical grants range £10,000–£40,000 over 1–2 years; applications follow a two-stage online process (EOI registration then full form with accounts, governing documents, safeguarding policy), with shortlisting calls and panel decisions. Exclusions include non-women/girls orgs, capital items, retrospective costs; uniquely, it offers non-financial networks, research, and advocacy to amplify the women's sector UK-wide.
