About Rosa Fund

Rosa is the UK's first specialist funder for women and girls, established in 2008. Their mission is to drive gender equality and justice by resourcing underfunded organisations tackling gender inequality. They combine grant-making with advocacy for systemic change, guided by values of boldness, collaboration, inclusivity, agility, and transparency. Distinctively, they centre participatory decision-making, with advisory panels of people with lived experience of racial or gender injustice shaping funds and selecting grantees. They fund across four thematic areas: economic justice, equal representation, health and wellbeing, and safety. Their programmes support frontline services for survivors of violence, mental health support, economic marginalisation, and under-represented women and girls. What Rosa Fund funds

Rosa funds work across four thematic areas: economic justice, equal representation, health and wellbeing, and safety. Their programmes support frontline services for survivors of domestic abuse, mental health support, poverty and hardship relief, and criminal justice reform. They fund core costs, salaries, training, equipment, research, project delivery, and events. They also support organisational development and capacity-building. All funded work must take place in one or more of the four UK nations: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Who can apply

Rosa funds registered charities, unincorporated associations, trusts, and community groups that are led by, for, and with women and/or girls. They particularly welcome proposals from organisations addressing the needs of Black and minoritised women and girls, disabled women and girls, LGBT+ women and girls, financially vulnerable women and girls, older women, women and girls using drugs or alcohol, and other underserved and disadvantaged groups. They do not fund faith groups, schools, colleges, hospitals, or organisations that are mainly fundraising bodies.

What Rosa Fund doesn't fund

Rosa does not fund capital works, profit-making activity, party political activity, activities promoting religious beliefs, work outside the UK, applications from individuals, overseas travel, interest payments on loans, building purchase, costs already incurred, or responsibilities of statutory agencies. They also exclude campaigning, awareness raising, advocacy and lobbying, academic research, fundraising appeals, arts projects unless they demonstrate significant social inclusion benefit, debts or loans, fees for professional fundraisers (unless for strengthening the organisation), services run by statutory or public authorities, and vehicles.
