Rotary International District 1200 Trust Fund

The trust supports health projects tackling physical disabilities, complex health needs, and mental health challenges through therapeutic activities, counselling, and preventative care. Education initiatives include after-school clubs, SEND support, skills training, and literacy programmes for children and young people facing learning disabilities or barriers to access. Poverty alleviation efforts address food insecurity, homelessness prevention, and financial hardship via community kitchens, advocacy, and employment training. Community development programmes combat social isolation among elderly residents and rural communities through befriending, peer support groups, outdoor activities, and inclusive sports. They also fund disaster relief providing immediate aid and recovery support, and peacebuilding activities promoting cohesion through youth mentoring and family support. Interventions are community-led, person-centred, and trauma-informed, supporting day services, drop-in centres, respite care, creative arts therapy, and holistic wellbeing programmes. All funded work must benefit communities within District 1200, covering Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, and the wider South West of England.

Registered local charities, schools, and grassroots organisations based in or serving District 1200 (Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, and surrounding South West areas) are eligible to apply. The trust prioritises organisations working with children, families caring for disabled children, isolated elderly people, care leavers, and disadvantaged rural groups. Beneficiaries also include disabled individuals, carers, refugees, and ethnic minorities. Applicants should demonstrate clear public benefit and a community-led approach. Unsolicited applications are welcome, and the trust values local roots and grassroots connections.

The trust does not fund core operational costs, endowments, or ongoing expenses. Projects located outside the South West of England communities are not supported. Additionally, applications that do not demonstrate clear public benefit or community impact are unlikely to be considered.

The trust funds project-based initiatives, focusing on small-scale local innovations alongside structured programmes. It works in partnership with local Rotary clubs to leverage resources and amplify impact. Unsolicited applications are accepted, and the trust values responsive, values-driven stewardship. Funding decisions prioritise measurable community benefits and sustainable transformation.
