Eligible applicants are limited to UK-registered charities and community groups based in England or Wales, with a preference for small to medium-sized entities (typically under £1 million annual income); unsolicited applications are not accepted. Trustees proactively identify and select beneficiaries aligned with these aims.

Grants typically range from £1,000 to £10,000 (most £2,000–£7,500), covering project funding, core costs, programme delivery, and related capital items, occasionally larger for multi-year efforts. Funding is awarded ad hoc via trustee meetings with no public deadlines or application process, distinguishing Sanibel through its flexible, needs-led strategy at the nexus of mental health, sport (especially boxing), and employability—excluding misaligned activities while emphasising transparent, impactful support.
