Swire Charitable Trust

The Trust funds work across children and youth, homelessness, refugees and migrants, domestic abuse, criminal justice, armed forces, employment, education and skills, environment, heritage, community development, and poverty and hardship. They support core costs, project delivery, salaries, capital works, equipment, and training. Grants are made to charities operating across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with a focus on the most disadvantaged and overlooked areas of the UK.

Applications are accepted from UK-registered charities only; the Trust does not fund constituted community groups, exempt organisations or CICs. Beneficiaries include children, young people, veterans, refugees, unemployed people, homeless people, offenders, and carers. The Trust prioritises charities that have a proven track record, deliver practical work achieving lasting change, have a realistic budget, and manage finances prudently. It tends not to offer more than 10% of a charity's income.

The Trust does not fund physical health, disability, mental health, faith, animals, sport and recreation, or arts and culture. They also exclude activities benefiting only one person (including scholarships or bursaries), statutory bodies or work primarily the responsibility of statutory authorities (such as residential care, respite and day care, or housing), activities of local organisations that are part of a wider network, charities closely associated with professional sports clubs, and Multi-Academy trusts. Applications from charities that have applied within the last 12 months are not considered.

The Trust operates a rolling programme with no set submission windows. They award multi-year grants, but only to charities they have previously supported; such grants can run for up to three years. They support core costs, project delivery, salaries, capital works, equipment, and training. Match funding is not required. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications.
