The A Team Foundation

The A Team Foundation, a UK-registered charity and limited company founded in 1999, drives systemic transformation in the food system to support human wellbeing and responsible stewardship of the biosphere. Formerly the Benjamin Arbib Charitable Foundation, it champions enlightened agriculture, equitable access to nutritious food, and regenerative practices, guided by values of social justice, environmental stewardship, and deep partnership. Its distinctive holistic approach emphasizes long-term, collaborative change over short-term fixes, as a signatory to the Funder Commitment on Climate Change.

It prioritizes five interconnected themes: inspiring nutrition through authentic food production; fostering community cohesion via connections to food and land; advancing food and farming education; promoting environmental stewardship through nature-aligned land management; and upholding equity for marginalized growers. Supported activities include research and innovation in regenerative agriculture, community food initiatives, new entrant mentoring, education programs, and policy advocacy. Beneficiaries encompass farmers, sustainable agriculture communities, rural marginalized groups, and food access advocates, with examples like funding Farmerama's sustainable food podcast, collaborative farmer mentoring via CSA Network partners, and advocacy with Beyond GM.

Eligible entities are UK-registered charities, favoring small to medium-sized grassroots, network, or infrastructure organizations with aligned visions; no strict income thresholds apply, though primarily UK-focused with select international partners. Grants typically range £10,000–£50,000 (up to £100,000+ for multi-year), covering projects, core support, capacity building, and innovation. Invite-only with no unsolicited applications, deadlines, or open rounds—funding arises via proactive trustee engagement and network referrals on a rolling basis. It excludes non-aligned work, favoring systemic innovators in regenerative food, land, and climate over isolated efforts.
