Thompson Family Charitable Trust

The Trust funds a wide range of charitable activities across England and Wales. In health, it supports hospital care, mental health counselling, therapeutic interventions for complex needs such as cancer support and stroke recovery, and palliative care through hospices providing respite and end-of-life services. Disability services include respite care, day services, peer support groups, and inclusive activities for children and adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD. It also backs children and young people’s initiatives like after-school clubs, sports programmes, youth mentoring, and employment training. Arts projects delivering creative therapy and cultural access, animal welfare programmes, food poverty responses including food banks and community kitchens, and carer support, family support, and holistic welfare services are also within scope. The Trust supports both grassroots and established organisations.

Only registered UK charities are eligible for funding. The Trust prioritises beneficiaries including children aged 5-19 with special educational needs and disabilities, families caring for disabled children, young people facing exclusion, carers experiencing exhaustion, elderly people in hospices, and communities addressing poverty or isolation. There is no religious restriction. The Trust welcomes applications from charities working across England and Wales, and is open to both small local organisations and larger established charities.

The Trust only supports registered UK charities, so it does not fund individuals, non-charitable organisations, or groups without charitable status. Apart from this requirement, it has no further restrictions on the types of charitable work it supports.

The Trust provides unrestricted core funding and capital grants, and is open to emerging needs without requiring evidence-based or innovation-only criteria. It accepts unsolicited applications and makes grants on a case-by-case, responsive basis.
