Trusthouse Charitable Foundation

The foundation supports work with children, young people, older people, families, carers, refugees, homeless people, and unemployed individuals. Priority cause areas include mental health, poverty and hardship, education and skills, employment, community development, domestic abuse, criminal justice, and physical health. Grants are typically for single-year projects, though multi-year funding is available through the Major Grants programme. The foundation focuses on urban areas ranked in the bottom 15% most deprived and rural areas ranked in the bottom 50% most deprived.

Registered charities, social enterprises, unincorporated associations, and community benefit societies can apply. The foundation prioritises front-line organisations working directly with people in need in deprived areas, with a preference for those embedded in their local community. Organisations must have reviewed their safeguarding policy and held formal safeguarding training within the past 12 months, and must not hold more than 12 months' operating costs in reserves. Community interest companies, schools, faith groups, and individuals are not eligible.

The foundation does not fund animals, environment, arts, culture, heritage, faith-based activities, sport, or recreation. It also excludes adventure playgrounds, baby banks, and disability charities. Organisations that have made late annual returns to the Charity Commission or Companies House within the past three years, or that have applied unsuccessfully within the previous 12 months, are not eligible. Capital works, equipment, research, feasibility studies, events, and training are not supported.

The foundation offers single-year grants through the Small Grants programme and multi-year funding through the Major Grants programme. Match funding is required, with the amount requested not exceeding 50% of the total cost or any one salary. The foundation welcomes unsolicited applications and supports core costs, salaries, and project delivery.
