We Are Unlimited Arts

We Are Unlimited Arts, the world's largest disabled arts commissioner, is an independent UK charity (CIO 1196665) established in 2022, evolving from a pioneering programme by Shape Arts and Artsadmin (2013-2022). Disabled-led with at least 75% of board and decision-making roles held by disabled people, it commissions extraordinary work from disabled artists until the cultural sector systematically values their contributions. Guided by radicalism, equality, and creativity, Unlimited challenges systemic barriers, fosters intersectional diversity, and aims for its own obsolescence through sector-wide equity, led by Director Jo Verrent OBE.

It exclusively funds disabled artists, collectives, and companies at all career stages—from emerging to established—across diverse art forms like theatre, dance, visual arts, digital, film, literature, and interdisciplinary projects. Priorities include ambitious new commissions, research and development, touring, international collaborations, leadership development, and capacity building for access and inclusion, emphasising innovation, impact, and shifting perceptions of disability in arts and audiences. Outcomes target groundbreaking artwork, expanded reach (over 9 million globally to date), and tangible sectoral change.

Eligible applicants must be disabled-led and based in England, Scotland, or Wales (international collaborations allowed if lead is UK-based); no income thresholds or entity restrictions apply, welcoming individuals, grassroots groups, and medium organisations. Grants range from £15,000 to £80,000 (four small under £25,000, six large over), totalling £413,000 for 2025/26—not for core costs. Unsolicited applications via two-stage process: Expression of Interest (EOI) by Monday 29 September 2025 (midday), then full applications for shortlisted; annual rounds, with access support (BSL, scribes, etc.) and reapplication encouraged. Its radical, accessible, disabled-led ethos and rejection of incremental inclusivity set it apart.
