Wilson Memorial Trust

The Trust supports a range of cause areas including physical activity, social connectedness, mental health, and preventative health. It funds capital projects like tennis club clubhouses, outdoor gym equipment, environmental huts, and medical equipment for local health centres. It also funds activities for sports clubs, ecological groups, and voluntary organisations. All funded work must directly benefit residents within the Steyning Medical Practice catchment area, covering Steyning and its immediate neighbouring villages in West Sussex. The Trust prefers grassroots initiatives that create broadly shared community benefits.

UK-registered charities, grassroots community groups, and sports clubs are eligible to apply. The Trust prioritises smaller organisations without strict income limits. Beneficiaries must be residents within the Steyning Medical Practice catchment area. There is no religious restriction. The Trust is independent of statutory services and favours projects that foster local self-help and resilience.

Projects outside the hyper-local geography of the Steyning Medical Practice catchment area are not supported. The Trust also does not fund projects reliant on statutory funding.

The Trust empowers local self-help and resilience through hands-on, place-based grantmaking. It funds a mix of capital costs, equipment, activities, wellbeing projects, and select core costs aligned with its objectives. Unsolicited applications are welcomed.
