A.D. Charitable Trust

The Trust funds organisations addressing disadvantage among children and young people, including those affected by poverty, care-experienced, and substance misuse. It also supports mental health and wellbeing, disability inclusion, social inclusion, rehabilitation for young offenders, poverty relief, education and training, housing, community development, and employment. Grants can support projects, core costs, capacity building, and occasional capital needs, with the aim of delivering direct benefits for marginalised communities across England and Wales.

Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities operating in England and Wales. The Trust prefers established organisations capable of demonstrating measurable, sustainable impact. It prioritises work that benefits children and young people facing disadvantage, as well as those affected by mental health issues, disability, poverty, or social exclusion. Unsolicited applications are not accepted; trustees invite aligned charities based on strategic fit, so organisations should be aware that initial contact is by invitation only.

The Trust does not publish a formal list of exclusions, but its funding closely aligns with social justice, youth welfare, mental health, disability, and prevention-focused missions. Organisations working outside these areas, or those unable to demonstrate a clear evidence-based approach, are unlikely to be considered.

The Trust funds a variety of costs including projects, core costs, capacity building, and occasional capital needs. It takes a hands-on approach, conducting thorough due diligence and building close relationships with grantees. Funding is provided by invitation only – the Trust does not accept unsolicited applications, and trustees proactively identify charities that align with their strategic priorities.
