Chrysalis Trust

The Trust funds poverty relief, disability support, homelessness, education and skills, and physical health. It also supports access to shelter, healthcare and clean water. Work can take place in North East England, across the UK, or internationally, provided it is delivered by UK-registered charities. The Trust prefers to fund harder-to-fund causes and overlooked projects, and supports both core costs and capital works. It prioritises grassroots groups that struggle to access mainstream funding, focusing on tangible, sustainable impact for the priority groups it serves.

Only UK-registered charities may apply. The Trust prefers to support harder-to-fund causes and organisations that can demonstrate clear public benefit. Applications are assessed on the impact of the grant, the number of people benefiting, how any shortfall will be raised, and the time scale. The Trust prioritises grassroots groups that struggle to access mainstream funding, and focuses on charities working with people in poverty, those with disabilities, homeless individuals, and other marginalised groups.

The Trust does not fund arts, culture or animal-related causes. Instead, it concentrates its resources on poverty, disability, homelessness, education, health, and access to shelter, healthcare and clean water, particularly for overlooked projects and marginalised groups. Applicants working in these excluded areas are not eligible for support.

The Trust provides support for core costs and capital works. It welcomes unsolicited applications and favours charities that are overlooked by mainstream funders. Funding decisions are based on evidence of public benefit and sustainable impact, with an emphasis on discreet stewardship and tangible outcomes for priority groups. The Trust does not specify a minimum or maximum grant size, and considers each application on its merits.
