Friends Trusts Limited

The Trust supports charitable purposes specified by original donors, including infrastructure maintenance, witness activities, and social engagement. Funds are distributed as restricted income from managed trusts to Quaker area meetings, charities, and related bodies. Geographically, work spans England, Scotland, and Wales. All funding aligns with Quaker ethos and is directed toward the upkeep of meeting houses, burial grounds, and other properties, as well as activities that reflect the movement's religious work and public benefit.

Eligible entities are UK-registered Quaker charities and community groups within Britain. Support is limited to those for whom the Trust already serves as custodian; unsolicited applications are not accepted. There are no income thresholds, but organisations must be part of or connected to the Religious Society of Friends. The Trust focuses on its existing beneficiaries, distributing income according to trust deeds.

The Trust excludes non-Quaker organisations, unrestricted project funding, core costs, and capital grants. It does not fund initiatives outside its custodial role, nor does it consider applications for standalone projects or general operating expenses.

The Trust does not make direct grants. Instead, it distributes restricted income from the endowed funds it manages, following the terms of each trust deed. Distributions occur internally among its existing beneficiary entities; no unsolicited applications are considered. This approach reflects a stewardship model rather than open grant-making, with funds allocated for specific purposes as defined by original donors.
