Homeless Link

Homeless Link, established in 2000 as the national membership charity for frontline homelessness organisations in England (charity no. 1089173), unites over 800 members—from large providers to grassroots groups—to end homelessness through high-quality services, policy influence, best practice sharing, and systemic change. Its vision is a country where everyone has a home and support to sustain it, guided by values of collaboration, evidence-based practice, inclusivity, and amplifying lived experience. Distinctive as both sector champion and infrastructure provider, it offers training, consultancy, research, and tools like the In-Form platform, while leading campaigns such as ‘Building a Movement’ and ‘Breaking the Cycle’ for prevention-focused investment.

It funds projects addressing rough sleeping, insecure housing, complex needs (mental health, substance use, non-UK nationals), and marginalised groups including adults, youth, women, and migrants. Supported activities include accommodation, prevention, outreach, integrated support, innovation, partnerships, capacity building, core costs, evaluation, and occasional capital for housing solutions, prioritising evidence-informed, person-centred interventions that shift from crisis response to long-term sustainability.

Eligible applicants are small- to medium-sized frontline charities with annual income under £2 million, operating exclusively in England; no unsolicited applications—only via specific published funding rounds (e.g., St Martin-in-the-Fields Frontline Fund). Typical grants range £5,000–£100,000 (up to three years), applied online through the website’s ‘Current funding opportunities’ page, with deadlines varying (check site; decisions in 6–12 weeks, ad hoc meetings). Exclusions: non-England work, large nationals, rolling applications; uniquely, it convenes advocacy networks and administers sector funds like winter shelters, emphasising collective impact over individual grants.
