Lga Foundation

The Foundation supports organisations working in children and youth, mental health, and physical health. Within these areas, it funds practical, community-based interventions such as mental health support, physical activity and sport programmes, and efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable young people, including those affected by poverty and disadvantage. It also prioritises improving the lives of vulnerable young women. Geographically, the Foundation focuses on Tyneside and South Northumberland, part of the wider North East of England. Grants are directed to grassroots organisations delivering direct, tangible improvements to their communities.

Charities and community groups based in Tyneside and South Northumberland are eligible to apply. The Foundation prioritises grassroots organisations that directly benefit young people, women, and the wider public. Projects should align with the stated priorities of supporting vulnerable young people, improving health and well-being for all, and enhancing the lives of vulnerable young women. Local roots and a strong community connection are important. The Foundation does not fund individuals.

Individuals are ineligible for support, and grants are reserved for organisations based within the defined geographic area of Tyneside and South Northumberland. Charities operating elsewhere in the UK are not considered.

Grant support can be one-off or multi-year, with the length of funding matched to the work involved. The Foundation welcomes unsolicited applications and prefers a collaborative, locally rooted style of funding.
