London Symphony Orchestra Endowment Trust

The Trust funds LSO-led initiatives that advance music education and community engagement. Its support covers the year-round Discovery programme, which delivers music education to children in East London hospitals, nurtures underrepresented young musicians through the LSO East London Academy, and develops emerging composers via the Helen Hamlyn Panufnik Composers’ Scheme. It also backs grassroots projects that foster transformative arts experiences, social inclusion and talent nurturing across all ages and backgrounds. The focus is on London, particularly East London. The Trust provides core funding for education, outreach and capacity building activities.

The Trust only funds the London Symphony Orchestra’s own internal programmes. External charities, individuals or other organisations are not eligible to apply. The beneficiaries of the Trust’s funding are those reached through LSO initiatives, including children and young people in East London, underrepresented musicians and emerging composers. The Trust’s work is entirely focused on the LSO’s activities, with no provision for grant applications from outside the orchestra.

The Trust does not fund capital projects or external project grants. It does not support charities, individuals or organisations outside the London Symphony Orchestra group. Unsolicited applications are not accepted, and there are no public grant programmes.

The Trust provides major core funding to the LSO, typically allocated on a yearly basis for education, outreach and capacity building. Trustees award grants ad hoc, without a formal application process. Funding is directed exclusively to the LSO’s internal programmes, with no provision for external project or capital costs.
