Mumford Memorial Trust

The Trust funds three thematic priorities within Herefordshire. Rural community development projects that establish or sustain social facilities and amenities for isolated residents. Church restoration work, including essential repairs to parish buildings that enable ongoing community engagement and heritage preservation. Wildlife conservation initiatives that protect habitats, enhance biodiversity, and restore green spaces. The Trust supports practical interventions that prevent decline in shared rural assets such as green spaces and historic churches, and seeks cross-cutting benefits for people and nature.

Local voluntary groups, community organisations, religious parishes, church councils, and environmental charities rooted in Herefordshire's rural villages and towns are eligible. The Trust prioritises grassroots organisations that demonstrate community-led stewardship and cross-cutting benefits for people and nature. There is no religious restriction; faith groups are welcome. Beneficiaries include isolated rural residents and families. The Trust looks for evidence of local involvement and tangible outcomes.

The Trust does not fund ongoing operational costs such as salaries, utilities, or rent, nor do they fund general administrative expenses. They also do not make grants to individuals for any purpose, and they only support projects that directly benefit Herefordshire, excluding work elsewhere. Activities that fall outside the three thematic priorities of rural community development, church restoration, and wildlife conservation are not supported.

The Trust funds practical project costs rather than ongoing core costs. They work in partnership with local organisations and welcome unsolicited applications. They prioritise grassroots organisations and value evidence of community-led stewardship and cross-cutting benefits for people and nature. The Trust seeks projects that generate lasting benefits through practical interventions, and they favour applications that demonstrate local involvement and tangible outcomes.
