People's Postcode Trust

The Trust funds activities across Scotland that fit within several themes: providing support to improve mental health, enabling community participation in the arts, preventing or reducing the impact of poverty, supporting marginalised groups and promoting equality, enabling participation in physical activity, improving biodiversity and responding to the climate emergency, and improving green spaces and increasing access to the outdoors. Priority is given to organisations with modest annual incomes, communities in areas of high deprivation, groups supporting marginalised people, and areas that have not received funding in the recent past.

Eligible organisations include registered charities, community interest companies (CICs), and community benefit societies. Applicants must be based in Scotland and carry out their work in Scotland. The Trust prioritises smaller charities and local good causes, particularly those with modest annual incomes. It also prioritises groups supporting marginalised people including those facing racial inequity, disabled people, and LGBT+ communities, as well as communities in areas of high deprivation.

The Trust does not fund faith-based activities, animal welfare (though it will consider applications involving animals that focus on the human element, e.g. therapy animals), environment or sport as standalone causes, medical research, clinical treatment, medical equipment, activities taking place outside of Great Britain or foreign travel, distribution of grants to individuals or other organisations, funding allocated to reserves, retrospective costs, or local, regional or government institutions with core statutory responsibilities.

The Trust offers multi-year grants and funds through accessible grants, trusting local organisations as experts in their communities. It welcomes unsolicited applications. The Trust aims to reach lesser-known groups that struggle to access larger funders.
