R W Mann Trust

The Trust supports a wide range of charitable purposes, including education and training, health and disability services, poverty relief, arts, heritage and culture, science, amateur sport, environment, and community development. Grants can be used for projects, core costs, or capital items. Funding is primarily directed to grassroots organisations in North Tyneside, East Newcastle upon Tyne, and South East Northumberland, with occasional consideration for applications from the wider Tyne and Wear and South Northumberland areas.

UK-registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, social enterprises, and community groups with strong local ties and direct community impact are eligible. The Trust favours small to medium-sized voluntary organisations over large national charities. Applicants should demonstrate a clear connection to the priority geographic areas and a commitment to serving local people. There are no religious restrictions on who can apply.

The Trust does not fund individuals. It also does not support large national charities, preferring to focus its resources on smaller, locally-rooted organisations. Applications from outside the priority geographic areas are rarely considered unless they demonstrate exceptional local benefit.

The Trust offers flexible grants that can cover project costs, core costs, or capital items. It operates as a non-prescriptive, generalist funder, welcoming unsolicited applications.
