Roger & Douglas Turner Charitable Trust

The Trust supports a broad range of causes including children and youth, disability support, older people's services, physical and mental health, poverty and hardship, homelessness, environment, and heritage. They fund core costs, project delivery, and capital works. Grants are focused on work that takes place within Birmingham, the Black Country (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, Wolverhampton), Worcestershire, and Herefordshire. The Trust is particularly interested in local, grassroots or volunteer-based organisations that deliver community-led interventions.

Applications are open to registered charities only. The Trust does not fund individuals, community interest companies, social enterprises, or community benefit societies. They prioritise local, grassroots or volunteer-based organisations that are rooted in the areas of Birmingham, the Black Country, Worcestershire, and Herefordshire. Charities with a strong local presence are favoured, and national bodies without a local headquarters are not supported. Beneficiaries typically include older people, disabled individuals, children and youth, and those experiencing poverty or homelessness.

The Trust does not fund salaries, animals, faith-based activities, retrospective costs, match funding, or multi-year commitments. They also exclude national charities without a local headquarters, organisations with large investment portfolios or excessive reserves, those with large defined-benefit pension fund deficits, charities with high fundraising costs or overheads, and those focused heavily on scientific or medical research. Charities with governance issues are also excluded.

Grants are one-off, though charities may receive multiple awards over time. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and does not require match funding. They offer flexible funding that can be used for core costs, project delivery, or capital works. Regular beneficiaries who have received four consecutive awards may become eligible for larger grants, reflecting the Trust's relationship-driven approach.
