Sasta Foundation

The Sasta Foundation, a charitable company established in December 2012 and registered with the Charity Commission (regid 1150212), is dedicated exclusively to advancing the Orthodox Jewish faith across England and Wales. Led by trustees Michael Walter Staszewski (chair and director) and Mandy Aviva Staszewski since inception, it operates through rigorous governance policies on finance, risk, safeguarding, and complaints. Its mission centers on fostering Orthodox Jewish practice, education, and community life via grants to aligned organisations, embodying a family-directed, faith-centric ethos that prioritizes traditional religious objectives over broader charitable aims.

It funds project and core costs for initiatives in religious education, worship, and community activities serving the Orthodox Jewish population, targeting organisations from grassroots groups to larger institutions within this ethnic-faith group. No support extends to individuals, secular projects, general welfare, or multi-faith efforts.

Eligibility is restricted to UK organisations demonstrably advancing Orthodox Jewish faith goals in England and Wales, with no specified income thresholds or entity types beyond this religious criterion. Applications are strictly invite-only, sourced via trustee networks; no unsolicited proposals or public portals exist. Trustee meetings occur ad hoc throughout the year, with no fixed deadlines. Grant sizes, while undisclosed publicly, range from several thousand to tens of thousands of pounds based on recent substantial disbursements.

Distinctively low-transparency among faith funders, Sasta avoids capital, emergency, or unrestricted grants, case studies, and impact reports, reinforcing its niche as a targeted propagator of Orthodox Judaism—ideal only for precisely aligned charities, excluding all else.
