Thomson-Bree Charitable Trust

The trust supports work in advancing health or saving lives, disability relief, poverty prevention or alleviation, religious activities, and arts, culture, heritage, or science. Funding is directed primarily to organisations throughout England. The trust provides unrestricted or core grants to sustain the general charitable purposes and ongoing activities of its six named beneficiaries. It does not fund specific projects, capital costs, seed funding, emergency appeals, or capacity-building initiatives outside of these predetermined organisations.

Eligibility is strictly limited to the six UK-registered charities named in the will of James Rutherfoord Thomson-Bree. No other charitable organisations, community groups, or individuals are eligible to apply, regardless of their location, income, or cause area. The trust does not accept unsolicited applications, so external charities cannot initiate contact or be considered for funding.

The trust does not fund any organisation not explicitly named in its founding document. It also does not support project-specific costs, capital expenditure, seed funding, emergency appeals, or capacity-building work. No funding is available to individuals, and no applications are accepted from charities outside the six specified beneficiaries.
