Ashworth Charitable Trust

The Trust funds humanitarian projects across the UK, focusing on causes such as children and youth, disability, mental and physical health, poverty and hardship, homelessness, community development, carers, and refugees and migrants. It supports grassroots initiatives, capacity building, social rehabilitation, and projects that address basic needs and human rights. The Trust also funds international development and housing and shelter projects. All supported work must involve project delivery; core costs are not covered.

Only UK registered charities are eligible to apply. The Trust prioritises smaller charities with a modest annual turnover and modest reserves. Beneficiaries include children, young people, disabled people, carers, refugees, homeless people, and older people. The Trust has no religious restriction and welcomes unsolicited applications from organisations that align with its humanitarian and grassroots focus.

The Trust does not fund core costs, capital expenditure, animal welfare, or non-humanitarian activities. It also excludes projects with disproportionately large reserves or those that have more than a certain amount remaining to raise. Previously funded charities are required to wait before reapplying.

The Trust makes project-specific grants, typically one-off, as part of its Small Grants Programme. It does not fund core costs. The Trust welcomes unsolicited applications and processes them via fixed biannual rounds. Grants are awarded for project delivery only, with an emphasis on grassroots participation and beneficiary involvement.
