Gwinear-Gwithian Sustainable Community Fund

The Fund supports a broad range of activities across community development, environmental improvement, education and skills, poverty relief, and wellbeing services. It funds core costs, salaries, project delivery, capital works, equipment, training, research, events, and feasibility studies. Specific themes include habitat restoration, heritage preservation, village enhancement, health services addressing isolation, and outdoor learning resources for local schools. Projects must directly benefit the area of benefit: Gwinear-Gwithian Parish, Camborne, Crowan, St Erth, and Hayle. Beneficiaries include children, young people, older adults, disabled people, and rural communities. The Fund also considers multi-year projects where applicants outline the amount needed each year.

Applications are welcomed from registered charities, community groups, unincorporated associations, schools, social enterprises, and other not-for-profit organisations based in Gwinear-Gwithian Parish. The Fund prioritises first-time applicants and projects that involve young people, promote social inclusion, demonstrate innovation, lever in contributions from other sources, or add value to existing sustainability projects. Organisations that are independent with their own accounts and committee are preferred. Faith groups and individuals are not eligible. Beneficiaries should be among the priority groups: children, young people, older people, disabled people, and rural communities.

The Fund does not support statutory or public sector bodies, other grant-making organisations, or regional offices of national bodies that are not independent. It also excludes works or equipment already committed, bought or completed, projects that benefit areas outside the defined geographical area, unspecified expenditure, and requests not directly relating to the proposed project. Faith groups and individuals are ineligible.

The Fund provides grants as one-off or multi-year awards, covering core costs, salaries, project delivery, capital works, equipment, training, research, events, and feasibility studies. It welcomes unsolicited applications and considers projects that lever in other contributions. The Fund is linked to renewable energy and governed by local trustees, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and community resilience.
