Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation

The foundation funds food banks, debt advice, emergency household support, and equipment or project costs for charities supporting children, young people, the seriously ill, older people, rough sleepers, disabled individuals, and survivors of abuse. Core costs and salaries to sustain essential services are also covered. Priority is given to organisations serving high-deprivation areas and marginalised communities, including ethnic minorities, women and girls, disabled people, and LGBTQ+ populations. Grants target small charities addressing urgent needs across the United Kingdom.

Only UK-registered charities are eligible. The foundation does not accept direct applications; funding is solely via nominations from Yorkshire Building Society members or colleagues. Priority is given to small, frontline charities working in high-deprivation areas or with marginalised communities, including ethnic minorities, women and girls, disabled people, and LGBTQ+ groups. Charities supporting children, young people, the seriously ill, older people, rough sleepers, and abuse survivors are particularly welcome. There is no religious restriction.

The foundation does not fund animal welfare, activities outside the UK, or organisations that are not registered charities. It also excludes repeat recipients of a grant within a recent period. Unsolicited applications are not accepted – funding is nomination-only.

The foundation offers responsive, flexible funding for immediate relief, supporting both core and project costs, including salaries. It operates through a nomination-only model driven by society members and staff, ensuring grassroots charities receive timely help without a formal application process.
