Feedback Trust

Feedback Trust, publicly known as Feedback, is an environmental organization founded in 2013 by campaigner Tristram Stuart to combat global food waste and foster a sustainable, equitable food system. Guided by values of environmental justice, systemic change, and collaboration, its mission centers on regenerating nature through food system transformation—eliminating waste across supply chains, promoting sustainable diets, reducing industrial livestock production, and advancing circular economies. It employs a distinctive blend of evidence-led research, high-impact campaigns like Feeding the 5000, policy advocacy, and practical interventions such as surplus food redistribution networks and community food loops, prioritizing upstream prevention over symptom relief to address deforestation, biodiversity loss, and social inequities affecting low-income communities.

The Trust funds projects advancing food waste prevention, sustainable livelihoods, local circular food economies, and advocacy against industrial agriculture, particularly benefiting grassroots groups, community food enterprises, and policy alliances in the UK (with a focus on England). Eligible entities are UK-based community groups and social enterprises driving systemic change; it shows preference for small to medium organizations with incomes typically under £50,000 to £1 million annually, though no strict thresholds apply.

Grants range from £10,000 to £50,000 yearly, sometimes scaling for multi-year partnerships, supporting project costs, core funding, or capacity building tied to systems-level innovation—but not capital infrastructure or emergency aid. Invite-only and proactive, Feedback does not accept unsolicited applications or set deadlines; opportunities arise via direct outreach based on alignment and track record, with ad hoc meetings. Uniquely, it eschews traditional food aid for bold, campaign-oriented strategies that empower local action and challenge root causes, distinguishing it as a catalyst for lasting UK food system reform.
