Pebble Trust

The Pebble Trust, founded in 2014 from a single inheritance, is a UK-based funder dedicated to catalysing a sustainable, fair, low-carbon society amid climate and biodiversity crises. Its mission emphasises localised economies, resilient communities, minimised fossil fuel dependency, and challenging inequality, guided by core values of fairness, sustainability, grassroots empowerment, and climate justice. It funds climate action initiatives that reduce fossil fuel and resource dependence, enhance resilience, promote resource efficiency, local empowerment, and equity. Supported activities span sustainable renovations, renewable energy, biodiversity, food systems, transport, and social justice, targeting individuals, community groups, small charities, and social enterprises—especially grassroots efforts in Scotland's Highlands and Islands (e.g., Argyll, Orkney, Shetland). Eligible applicants are UK-registered charities, community groups, or social enterprises with no strict income limits but preference for smaller, local, innovative entities demonstrating community benefit and alignment with planetary boundaries; geography prioritises Highlands/Islands, with occasional broader UK or Scotland-wide support.
