Derbyshire Environmental Trust Limited

The Trust funds capital projects that enhance environmental sustainability and reduce carbon emissions, restore biodiversity and habitats, generate green energy from renewable sources, and improve community spaces such as parks, recreation grounds, and amenities. It also supports public access improvements to environmental sites. All funded projects must be publicly accessible and inclusive, benefiting the general public in Derbyshire, with a particular focus on communities within 10 miles of licensed landfill sites.

Registered charities, community groups, parish councils, and other not-for-profit organisations based in Derbyshire can apply. The Trust prioritises projects that benefit the general public, especially in areas with higher levels of deprivation. Facilities restricted to specific user groups are not eligible unless open to the general public. For-profit organisations are excluded.

The Trust does not fund for-profit organisations, projects outside Derbyshire, or those more than 10 miles from a licensed landfill site. It excludes projects that have already started, facilities restricted to specific user groups, membership-based sports clubs with restrictive access, and new building construction or extensions. Energy-saving installations such as solar panels or heating are only considered where existing items are no longer serviceable. VAT recoverable by VAT-registered organisations is also excluded.

The Trust provides capital grants for one-off projects, with larger grants available through the Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund. It welcomes unsolicited applications and requires a third-party match. Funding is awarded through an annual application round.
